Pay for Students, not Dropouts.
A student drops out of high school every 26 seconds and will cost US taxpayers an average of $292,000 more than a high school graduate over his/her lifetime. High school dropouts are more likely to be incarcerated, rely on social welfare, abuse drugs, and become single mothers. Encouraging students-- especially those in low-income communities-- to attend school every single day has been proven to be the most effective dropout prevention strategy. So, we're putting our money where our mouth is (LITERALLY!) and paying for perfect attendance.
